There's another type that has a heat sensitive spring attached in a slot in the end of the shaft. It's a bit like the spring out of an old alarm clock. Have a look at eBay item number:331073664648 to get an idea of what I'm on about. There's usually a pin or bracket the other end goes on. I'll have a look in the shop to see exactly what's there, but all my engines are 25" so might be slightly different.
