you ever ride in a 80s/90s ford super duty ? worse than a PW by far. isrealis and Mexicans kept building them for decades after we stopped. our part of the world just didn't really have the need for such a truck anymore where as in mexico they did and the isrealis needed them for military. a land cruiser or land rover just doesn't have the clearance and tire size to compete with a PW or M37.
