I agree of course that one should never use it for degreasing, but there's a lot of things we do that we shouldn't. I use gas 'cause it's cheap and it dries up fast. Actually, I remember reading that in terms of BTU/lb dynamite is a weaker energy source than gasoline. Probably takes a less than 1 gal to equal a stick of dynamite. The main thing is not to set off either one. For that matter, plain old ammonium nitrate fertilizer is more powerful than dynamite per lb, but fortunately not so easy to detonate. I'm sure if cars and electricity were invented today, the government would never let us buy gasoline or run electricity into our houses.
