I received a lot of support from people after that letter. I wrote it a week before I started dating this great girl. Decided to stick around for our wedding (the polite thing to do). She wanted to come to Alaska too. Made it as far as Colorado, been here since 1992.

But today I fired up the '79 3/4 ton Suburban to see how it has fared a few years of neglect. Banged around the back-country a bit, and seemed pretty sound. Who knows, we might make it up next year!
