With an "open" differential this "breaking traction" characteristic is typical of my trucks when trying to determine gear ratio by spinning a wheel. I have had more luck in turning the driveshaft and counting revolutions of the tires under these circumstances. I doubt there is anything wrong. Could be a brake shoe dragging more on one drum, tighter wheel bearings on one side, or a tire and wheel way out of balance.
Maybe Greg would offer an "underdrive" for use with the "ultra-rare 2.9's! ;)
