i own a trucking co that used to use gmc gas delivery straight trucks. trucks were 366chevy powered. the trucks are long since gone and replaced with ih-now navistar diesel rigs. i found a 542 tranny (rebuilt in my parts shed. i shifted it and seem to find only 4 gears. if the 540 had 5, am i wrong or are these two completly different boxes. reverse is up and to the right. please let me know if this would be a good box for a tranny swap-- has a pto outlet. would a m-37 or pw pto fit it internally-- seems to be the same outside mounting setup. thanks
