what yr/make/model? Greg assumes you are talking about replacing a bad part, or are you asking if you need one for an upgrade to ignition system? Some chrysler prods didn't use them,instead had internal reistor type coils.Later electronic (75-90?) used a dual type, sometimes 'start' side goes bad, won't fire when cranking til key is released.New part about $8 last one I did.
