The Jake brakes are not affected, as far as I know. Jake brakes control the engine valves. The exhaust brakes close down the exhaust flow and are,apparently,affected by the higher exhaust temperatures of the particulate filter cleaning cycle.
I'm sure all this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Vehicles without self-cleaning particulate filters are not affected. I don't want to panic anybody. I just mentioned one reason that vehicles may have retarders rather than exhaust brakes.
I've never driven a vehicle with a Jake brakes. Sounds like a good deal.
