Power wagons in Burma (Myanmar)?

I have an uncle that has lived in Burma for the last 30 years. He came back to the states a year or so ago and was telling me about the power wagons (M601 trucks is what i think he's talking about) that are fairly common over there. I know that VPW bought up a bunch of them years ago. Some of y'all old guys give me a history lesson. Why did the US Military ship them over there, then leave them which is probably self explanatory...cost of bringing them back. Do people like you and I need special connections to bring one back to the states or have one shipped to the US? Just curious.
