It's not that hard. The problem is you have the sequence out of order. You need to get the window down to a point that the rollers line up with the slots in the track below the window. Once you release the window, it just pulls up and out.
You can't lower the window unless the window mechanism is working. There is also a stop that needs to be removed on the track to allow the window to drop low enough. But, you've probably seen that already.
I suggested you do the other door because you seemed to indicate that the lowering mechanism was frozen and you were trying to skip the part about lowering the window.
Taking apart a door with a working mechanism would allow you to see how it needs to be done.
