Battery draining, Generator is HOT!!!

Yesterday I put my 56 to work hauling stuff to my storage unit. I let the truck sit for a couple of hours and when I went to start it, it was dead.

I had to drive to the city to get my other 6V battery, and after a swap, my 56 started without issue. I drove it home, and parked it outside for a couple hours. When I went to start it, the battery was dead. I then noticed that the amp gauge was showing about a 20 amp draw, and the generator was really hot!!

This was going to fast track me to install my 12V conversion from VPW, but I've got a couple things holding that up for the time being.

Anybody have some insight into what is going on?
