i doubt the frame is cracked but i have been
wrong before
i have seen quite a few trucks with reinforced frames with huge packs of springs and overload springs in tex. anyway
from oil field, hlandp, to wreckers
on my 47 i had a steel shop make me a 2 custom frame rails and i took off the spring hanger brackets etc. and ran it all the way
back and drilled thru all the holes the next size up and bolted back together
reason being i was running the huge pack of springs and dusls i got off a 54 oil field parts truck whick also had been reinforce
the just welde some 2 in angle iron to the bottom rail
i kinda like that bed
one time i almost bought a strectche frame black power wagon with duallys and a huge flat bed 12 ft. or so from a farmer in bastrop tex.---great looking truck--never could understand why they did not make a wm 4 5 or six hundred and then some''lol
