If your engine is worn out and has low compression I suppose there is a chance it won't generate enough vacuum to overcome the 50oz spring. If you have a vacuum gauge and can get the truck running, you can put the nipple of the gauge on the wiper inlet hole in the manifold. Should read 17-19psi. You can do this test with a known good carb.
