The bulk of my body work experience was from the 'Lacquer Age'. Procedure then was to apply primer - surfacer to the prepared surface....Block sand....Tap down any high spots...Spot prime bare spots....Apply glazing putty....Block sand...Primer - surfacer....Block sand....Sealer. However, today's products may be a whole new ball game.
As stated; building up using only primer - surfacer is extremely labor intensive, and expensive.
