I prefer Base/Clear, and have used that on all my trucks. Not being a painter with lots
of experience, I find I can give total concentration to good color in the Base coat. Then I can concentrate on a proper clear coat. I use all PPG products.
Keep in mind, if you dont want the high gloss that straight clear produces, PPG makes a product that can be boosted with clear to give the desired result from total flat (as on my Bumblebee) up thru satin, semi gloss and a little above that.
Detroit painted cars for many years with Base/Clear. In most cases the paint jobs lasted well. If you keep your Base/Clear painted old iron under cover as I do, the paint should out last you.
