well I needed to do a one time hole and tap, 7/8X9. So I bought a cheap tap of amazon as I figured I wouldn't use that size again.
Now the pain was that I had to do it all by hand. Ream the existing hole at a slow speed so the drill doesn't break my wrist :) then lube and start tap, backing up and cleaning frequently. then it stops cutting, a little more hand pressure, snap! Oh goodness.
Now I am not a strapping young lad and it really surprised me how easy it snapped. That is what I get for buying a cheap tap.
Now any suggestions on getting a broken tap out of a recessed hole? 49/64 hole was about 2" into a 1 1/2" recess. figured I was done for the night.....
