When one side loses pressure, it shuts of the flow to that side. And turns on the light.
It is also a "hold off valve", which delays the braking the rear until the fronts get the play taken up. This prevents rear end skidding and fish-tailing.
They do NOT actually proportion. Proportioning is built in by balancing piston sizes between front and rear. It's why nearly all drum/drum systems have smaller drum and pistons on the rear axle.
So, what problem would one have that could be fixed by adding a "proportioning valve"?
Or please, post a link that tells us what the combination valve does. Been many years since a berake school, and I can't remember what I had for breakfast anymore, Or of. ;^)
