I've never seen any such thing commercially. I'm afraid his best bet is just to get another 6V battery and keep it on a trickle charger. If he wants light weight, get a golf cart battery or bunch of gel cells.
You can jump a 6V vehicle from a 12V one, if there's no sensitive electronics involved, but it's a 2-person operation. The key is to put the ignition switch on the dead one into the "start" position (or press the floor pedal) BEFORE making the last connection with the jumper cables (which should be to ground, away from the battery). For the brief time it takes to start, the starter should draw the voltage down low enough not to blow the fuel gauge. When it starts, disconnect the jumper cable prior to (or close to) letting off the starter switch. This method will work as a field expedient, but takes 2 people and has a fair potential to damage things if not done exactly right. I don't see why the same technique couldn't be attempted with a 12 volt "power pack", but those things have pretty tiny batteries in them and thin cables, and there might not be enough juice to crank an engine.
