Impressive numbers, Mike, but those are car engines, not truck engines, so I'll regard them as cherries to add to the apples and oranges fruit basket we are assembling. Here are some more apples:
The truck 315 V-8 poly used in the early 1957 W500 had 197 HP @ 4400 rpm (gross), 284 ft-lbs. @ 2400 rpm (gross) and a 7.6 to 1 compression ratio. The Power Giant 315 H.D. poly used in the 1958 W300 and W500 had 204 HP @ 4400 rpm (gross), 290 ft-lbs. (gross) @ 2400 rpm, and a 8.1 to 1 compression ratio. The Super Power Giant 315 (premium) poly used only in the 1958 W500 had 207 HP @ 4400 rpm, 295 ft-lbs @ 2400, and a 7.6 to 1 compression ratio.
The 315 poly (standard engine) used in the 1957-58 W100 & W200 had 204 HP @ 4400 rpm (gross), 290 ft-lbs. @ 2400 rpm (gross), and a 8.1 to 1 compression ratio.
All the above comparable Dodge truck poly engines produced less gross HP and fewer gross ft-lbs. of torque than the 2 bbl 1968 LA-318 wedge, which produced 210 HP @ 4000 rpm and 318 ft-lbs. @ 2800 rpm with a 8.5 to 1 compression ratio.
All the above data is from Dodge Power Wagon sales brochures for the applicable years.
Apples to apples, the factory performance data tells me the LA-318 has better performance than the earlier 1957-1966 Dodge truck 315 and 318 poly engines.
