Justin,
Check out this page to see if you found a 58 or a 59:
http://townwagon.topcities.com/tw/years.htm
I know they are all TWs but the pictures should show you the different grills, and the hood trim.
Another clue is that all 58's are 6 lug wheels, and 59s are 8 bolt in W100 and 6 bolt in W200 and W300.
As for value, well PG(Power Giant, that is 57-60 trucks) PWs are not as popular or valuable as the flat fenders, but they are still worth decent money.
I have paid between $200 and $600 for the ones I own, but I bought trucks out of farmers fields.
Retail value seems to be about $4,000 to $8,000 for a decent truck(running driving, almost all the little things fixed, nice body). The most common prices hover between $3,000 and $5,000, condition, and other factors always determining value.
Of course if the truck is a parted out standard flat six truck, with no options, it is worth MUCH less.
A good starter truck from a couple of junkyards I know of sells for around $2,000- $3,000. This would be real nice sheetmetal on a standard truck, some bits missing, but nothing major. You might get a title.
VPW has a decent, complete 58 W200 with the wrong motor, trim, and pedals, but a decent paint job, straight sheetmetal, mechanical condition unknown(I never asked) for $3,500.
They have been trying to sell it for at least three years.
Then there was the 58 W100 on the photo classifieds, asking $5,900, good condition(rebuilt motor, new brakes, new tires, straight sheetmetal) it sold in a few weeks(but I don't know for how much).
But as I said before, I have walked away from nice trucks because they were over $1,000, my limit for your everyday abandoned for 10 years farmers yard PG PWs.
But if you want to buy the truck and sell for profit you still have to find a buyer, and not everyone is looking for PG PWs.
I hope this helps!
Eric
