The 727 is one hell of a strong!But if you want an overdrive there is a company out there that makes an adapter to use the A518 trans thats used in the 89 to 93 Dodge diesel's.An A518 is actually a 727 with an overdrive connected.Some will say that these were problem tranny's and that may be true to some extent..But after a valve body shift kit is installed which raises the line presures and keep's the tranny very happy!Any one that thinks these cant hold up to abuse have'nt seen me do a 150ft posi-trac burnout in my truck,with 35" tires. time and time again and 130000 miles later,with no problems.. just my 2 cents..........
