I feel the same way about my '53 B3. I keep working on the mechanical aspects to keep it running well and useful. One of these years I will paint it, but not too perfectly. Mostly just to keep it from corroding.
Some of the fun went out of my '53 Chevy sedan (my daily driver) after I fixed all the dents and painted it, new interior, etc., because now I have to worry about damaging it. Before, I used to just trash it out on logging roads without a care. Now the PW gets those adventures instead. I svppose the ancient Romans had similar discvssions about chariot restorations.
