With the price range you have in mind, you're gonna end up with the M-37. Civilian PW's in good shape are almost impossible to come by under 5 grand, unless you run across one locally and beat everyone else to it. The M-37 is a 3/4 ton as opposed to the one ton PW. Engines and running gear are very close between the two, so getting the M-37 won't be a major loss as far as your usage requirements go. And besides, you can turn the M-37 into a convertible :)
