My center crossmember was really bad. I cut the old one out with a plasma torch and fabed
a new cross member out of 3/16 plate and mig welded it. It does NOT look like an original since the original was stamped and the new one is straight angles. However the clearence is the same. and its much stronger. Prior to closing it up the inside was primed and painted. The whole job took one day and I will be doing the same to my rear crossmember which has the same problems.
