Losing gear oil fast

I have a '71 w100 4 speed manual tran. with a cracked rear 8 3/4 housing. It used to only leak a little but now it has really started to flow around several areas that look like they have been welded and/or epoxyed. Is it worth 1) trying to epoxy the epoxy 2) take the whole thing apart and have it cleaned & welded 3) find a replacement housing in good shape?
This is my work truck, daily driver that usually tows a ton and a half up and down steep dirt roads. Thanks for any advice and let me know if anyone has one(8 3/4 rearend housing) for sale near Monterey, Calif.? Thanks in advance, Tracy
