It just runs off the other TC output, in other words they are locked together. The longer driveline runs acoss the nearer axle with a carrier bearing setup.
If you want more traction Lockrights are much easier and cheaper and an axle with tires and wheels weighs 500 lb.
Fuel economy will drop no matter which motor you have.
