Either machine will work for what you are doing. The limiting factor on the lower priced wire welders is that they usually have only 4 heat settings. What ever machine you buy spring for the gas and use weld mix (75% argon/25%Co). It makes for a much better and cleaner weld. As to the auto darkening, I have been using mine for 3 years (stick & wire) and they are great. Best of luck on your project.
