Hook a volt meter to the battery. It should be about 12 volts.
Next, leave the voltmeter connected, engine off an turn on headlights and other loads until the battery gets down to about 11 volts.
Leave the voltmeter hooked to the battery and start the engine. The battery will drop down because the starter is a big load, but after starting, the battery should continually climb back up over the 11 volts, and continue climbing until it exceeds 12 volts+
If all that works, stop spending time and money, there's nothing wrong. If you don't have a voltmeter, get one. It will pay for itself.
