Magazine articles can provide interesting reading. You would have been light years ahead if you followed Mannyc's suggestion in the last forum. Buy a copy of: John Zentmeyers TM9-1806C Ordnance Maint-Powertrain and Interchanges: Military/ Civilian 1941-1971. This manual is awesome, produced by the military and covers all you want to know and all so much more. I got mine years ago from VPW. TM9-1806C is the real deal.
