The first one I broke, I broke in the work parking lot trying to climb the decorative rocks, with my recently installed front and rear lockrites. Had the 230 in it then, and 9.00/16s. My foot slipped off the clutch, and it snapped the short side rear about 4" from the flange. I was able to snare the rest of the shaft out with a piece of mechanics wire. The second one, I broke by side stepping the clutch on dry pavement. I had just put the V8 in it, still had the lockers, and had 38" tires on it. It broke the long side, right at the splines. Ended up pulling the pumpkin, and welding a pipe/slidehammer arrangement to the broken piece to get it out.
