There's a silicone grease plumbers use, like to lube valve stems that have o-rings on them, or any place you have rubber rubbing on metal. Doesn't last very long in the faucets but it might be worth a try in the wipers. You can get it at plumbing places. It does have better temperature stability than regular grease, which might be important in a wiper because what I found was anything thin enough to work in cold weather runs to the bottom of the housing when it sits out in the sun and anything thick enough to seal when it's hot gets too stiff to move in cold weather. But I'm pretty sure they didn't have silicone grease back in 1940.
