Locust, Hawthorne and other thorn threes love to grow as scrub...a backhoe and some chain does a good job on them. The Bois D'Arc (bodarc) tree also know as Orange Osage doesn't have thorns but is a very hard and rot resistant wood. And is heck on chainsaw chains.
