Per the Army/Air Force TM 9-8031-2, paragraph 346, preload is measured in inch pounds for bearing preload:
Rear output shafts – 15-30 inch pounds
Idler gear bearings – no end or side-to-side play, no inch pounds used.
flange/idler shaft nuts - 140-160 foot pounds
You’ll seize the bearings using foot pounds and if they don't seize, you'll run a hot TC - not good!
