Re plating lug nuts

Can older lug nuts be replaced with any success, or will the plating chip and flake off the first time an impact is put to em?..

I got the NOS set off ebay, and gonna use them on the truck and combats, but I was thinking of getting the set thats on the truck now re done to use on the trailer, since those are painted...
