I doubt you have a ground problem now.
Did you ever get the indicator light to work?
Rick is correct. The flasher is to light for the amp draw of the bulb's(globes).
What number flasher are you using?
For heavy duty up to 6 bulbs you need a 535 6v flasher
Have you tried with the trailer plugged in?
