I built a bed from PT for my 1/2 ton wc, In the East the PT is southern Yellow Pine. It's very strong. It holds up quite well, not sure about corrosives in the treating but the metal that touches the wood should be painted anyway so it shouldn't matter. I think it's copper cyanide and other poisnonous stuff that keeps the bugs out, it says on the tag right on the wood what is in it.
