I dont think you get it. some engines have an intake manifold independent of a stamped sheet metal pan that bolts to the engine all by itself and the pan does not touch the intake in anyway many older V8s were this way. Mopars, Buicks, Cadillacs and more
I think what you are referring to is a type of intake gasket with shield built into it that is not visible because its under the intake.
