Some folks refer to items using a brand name. How many folks have a Toyota jeep, or use Scottie kleenex. Most of the companies that manufactured 1-ton cargo trailers in WWII are listed in that page of TM 9-2800.

I have a 1-ton trailer manufactured by Ben Hur (Data Plate on left side of front panel). I am interested in finding a 1-ton manufactured by the Century Boat Company.
