those were Firestone Steeltex, now Firestone calls them Transforce, same basic tire just different name.
They are great tires as far as I am concerned. I won't run anything else on my towing/hauling truck.
I have tried Goodyears, Coopers, Michelins, and a few others. None of them have lasted as long as the Firestones. I have had 8 or 9 sets of them now on my last 4 trucks and get well over 60k out of them, not bad for towing/hauling tire. I had one set make it to 70k
I know a guy who also runs the Transforce he gets 80k out of his, but he rotates his a little more often then I do.
They wear great and last a long time. Never had one come apart or blow out. Cant say that for the Goodyears I tired or the Coopers.
Only tire I have tried that came close to the Firestone Transforce was a set of Michelins.
