They are on most of the school buses here and are not intended for any type of long distance or fast driving. They are great for that little bit of help you occasionally need for going up or down a short hill or extra slippery section of road, something we have a lot of around here. While the major portions of the bus runs might be clear there are always some short bad sections remaining and that 's what the auto chains are for. It sure beats putting on the real chains just to go 50 or 75 yards. They have very little ground clearance so you better stay off the road shoulder when in use.
