I remember early in my apprenticeship they had a special deal explaining to the class NEVER let the drippings off winter vehicles on the hoist get in your mouth, eyes etc. I asked why (This was in 1982) and the automotive instructor said "Well, salt is the least of what's in that s__t. It's a known carcinogen" and showed us a WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) document on the stuff. It wasn't good. In the spring it all ends up in our rivers and streams. Nice.
