We redid one about 8 years ago. Old farm house so the wife wanted that "old farm house" look. The bathroom was claw foot tub, pedistal sink, nothing fancy. I do know some restro-places charge a lot, but check them out. The big thing these days is - those old tubs were not insulated. The hot water stays hot for about... well... while it's coming out of the faucet. After that it cools down quickly. Refurbishing places can coat it before they paint it. So you can just paint, or coat (insulation like coating) and paint, or go with a brand new tub ($1,000.00+) that looks old but isn't. We opted for an old, painted one. Again, the water didn't stay hot very long, but I'm cheap, what can I say?!?
