Thanks DC, it seems like the loose transfer case is an original VC unit an the one on the VC3 is an early T207 one then.

I did some leafing through the Master Parts List and it looks like a lot of the shafts, bearings, and covers are the same between the VC and WC but the actual cases and gears are different.

I don't suppose I'll be changing it just to get the right casting numbers but it's nice to know - thanks again.
