I've been thinking of doing the same.
If you can find one, you can use a 727-205 from a newer (80+) truck. Most of these had a 208 instead of 205. It's not a big deal to put the short tailshaft and tailhousing from a married 727 into a normal 727 (in case you're doing this in a big-block powered truck).
I'm also considering the doubler that Charlie refers to, its very attractive. At this point in time you'll need a GM 205 that was married behing a TH400 to use the offroad design doubler setup. They are working on a version that will allow the TH350 205 to be used.
