I would try this fisrt:
- Take the connection and brake cylinder bolts off the wheel cylinder;
- Take the inspection cover off the drum, and using some tools, try to work the shoes out the cylinder. If you can't do that, then take the achor bolt nuts off. When you start pulling the hub, wheel and shoes will come off together. The problem is there are two big clips that hold the shoes to the brake plate. These are riveted on and you will destroy or distort them doing it this way. I would do this:
- Pull the drum about a 1/4 inch. Using a punch, hammer it to drive the shoes out of the drum. Hammer then rotate the drum, hammer again working all around to the point you started. As you work them out, keep pulling the drum a little till they are out. I would rather destroy the shoes, than have to replace the revited brake plate.
