If it is left on a motor stand where it could be inclosed by slipping a plastic bag around it after your inert gas purging, maybe
throwing in a couple of those moisture absorbing packets before you seal the bag would stop rust. It would seem that leaving water in the block would not be good for storage if you enclose, cover, or seal it. Also it would probibly be good to run it periodically (maybe 1 or 2 times a year)to keep any seals from dry rotting, getting hard, and leaking over time. Maybe we tend to think too extremely at times trying to do the right things for our trucks but over the years I've took vehicles that have sat for 10yrs or more and just cleaned the points and carb, put a fresh battery to it and Varoooom, they would fire right up. Oil leakage of seals possibly due to disuse seem to be the only problem or maybe they leaked before it was parked? The timing chain cover seal(crankshaft) and waterpump seal were usually the two that would be leaking.Sticking piston rings should not be a problem in a fresh rebuilt engine as no varnish has built up around them.
If this forum last that long and you store it for years ,keep us informed when you finally put it into service.
