Paul,

I wrote you up a big long response last night on my phone but the forum wouldn't post it. Anti spam feature maybe?

Anyway, if all you have different from my drawing is two extra check balls, I am thinking of three possibilities, all are extra checks for the pumping piston.

Parallel flow paths. Two in and two out lines to the bottom of the piston. This would cost more to manufacture and would be used if a single passage couldn't feed enough flow. It would double the possibility of a failure.

Series flow paths. Each single in and out passaged would be double checked. This would cost more to manufacture but you would have a superior product. If one check failed the other would still hold.

Double acting piston. In this scenario you would have two sets of in and out passages. One going to the top of the piston and the other to the bottom. This would allow the jack to pump on the up stroke as well as down.

Let us know what you find.
