So school me on why it is dangerous. I assume you are a tire engineer and can show me solid evidence with statistics to back it up that deviating from the manufacturers RECOMMMENDATIONS will kill a bus load of nuns. The manufacturer of my tow rig right on the door the tire size is 245/75/16 I like to run 265/75/16 tires against the manufactures recommendation so I guess I should quit driving my truck it is now dangerous. In fact I suppose the truck is getting a little old and doesn't have traction control and stability control so I better buy a newer one. Were does it end??? At some point good judgement and experience must prevail. I have not run 33 boggers on a narrow rim but I have run 33" tires on a 16X6.5" rim and I am still here and the truck drove fine. It is not like a tire can't be unmounted if he doesn't like the way it drives or the tread wears. I will scare everyone that reads this by saying that after working for a well known manufacturer of tire mounting balancing equipment as an engineer and seeing how poorly maintained the tire dealers equipment really is I mount my own tires and do not balance tires. Most of the time an uncalibrated balancer actually makes the balance worse.
