On Saturday, while replacing the fuel pump on the Power Wagon, I went to the cabinet that holds various shop supplies, amongst them is "aviation form-a-gasket" Not on the shelf. Then I sort of remembered that when I was preparing for delivering Dan H's truck to California I had put together a kit with everything needed to replace a set of wheel bearings. Included were bearings (pre packed) seals, gaskets and the tools needed to do the job. I had also put in the gasket compound. So, I opened up the box and rummaged around but found no gasket goo. Oh well, I had some in a kit in the M37. So I used that and didnt think any more about it.
Fast forward to today, when I picked up my mail, there was a letter to me from the FAA. I opened it up and there was a letter informing me that I had attempted to fly with "aviation form-a-gasket" in my checked luggage and that this is considered flammable so they confiscated it. Well, that answered that question!
Heck a paperback book is flammable too but they must have missed them after getting so excited catching my gasket maker!
