The crud is probably a piece of rubber hose from the 'temporary' install of the electric pump. Once shut down, the fule bowl dried up, float dropped all the way,opening intlet to wfo, and the crud got washed into the bowl. No prob- until it plugs the jet.
You cvan often fix it by punching off the fuel line and get it running, until the bolw goes dry. The allow incoming fule to flush the inlet valve.
